I have a great passion for helping those struggling with challenges while attending college. My approach in therapy is to work as a team with you to make the discomfort you are going through become more manageable. Your discomfort may not disappear, but I can help you navigate these feelings. I aim to empower you to feel more in control of your response to the struggles of life. I am very solutions focused. In order to feel different, we have to try something different. I offer psychoeducation, suggest different coping skills and will point out the patterns of behavior/choices in your life and how they are impacting you. How are you doing with the dystopia? I'm Cori, and with me, therapy starts by acknowledging that we are living in the dark ages. But my clients are heroic. They're intrepid. They're wise. They are struggling to make meaning and survive in a harsh and terrifying era. Most of us feel pretty powerless. I try to offer a brand of queer Buddhist wizardry that helps people break generational curses, find the power they DO have, and create community that sustains them. I offer many evidence based approaches to therapy, especially those that help us change our relationship with ourselves, and changing our relationship with life and reality. Existential therapy, acceptance & commitment therapy, and narrative approaches are my bread-and-butter. I also work from a great deal of other experiences; as an activist, queer organizer, drag artist, social work professor, and a student of many wisdom traditions. I lived abroad in both Europe and Asia and know how alienating, frightening, and difficult it can be to adjust to a radically different culture. I studied tàijíquán and Daoist thought on Wǔdāng mountain in central China from 2010 to 2011, and have studied and practiced Buddhism since 2011 with various Tibetan, Bhutanese, and western Lamas.

College can be a wild mix of freedom and stress... with friend drama, missing home but wanting independence, figuring out what you want to do with your life, financial pressure, loneliness when friend groups shift, and the everyday weight of adult responsibilities starting to pile up. It’s a lot to carry, and it makes sense if you’re feeling stuck, anxious, or unsure how to handle it all. And then, when you’re finally ready to reach out for support, finding a therapist can feel like another full-time assignment. Scrolling through endless profiles feels a little like online dating... you’re reading way too many bios, everyone sounds kind of the same, and you’re left wondering who you’ll actually click with. Add in the stress of costs, schedules, and trying to figure out if they’ll really get what you’re going through, and it’s exhausting before you even start. My goal is to make that step less overwhelming and give you a space where you don’t have to perform, pretend, or have it all figured out.

I view therapy as the process of developing a better understanding of thoughts, emotions and patterns. I utilize a person-centered therapy approach to create a warm, non-judgmental atmosphere where you can feel comfortable and safe. Through the journey of self-discovery, your needs and wants from the therapy process may change. This is why I pull from different evidence-based therapy approaches such as CBT and positive psychology to best fit with your needs at the time. I have experience working with a variety of mental health concerns. However, no two people are the same. Together we will work towards your unique goals utilizing the individual strengths you bring. Deciding to begin therapy can be scary. I will help to illuminate the process and ease your concerns. I am currently accepting new clients. I look forward to hearing from you and starting this journey together.

Starting therapy can feel like a big step—especially if you’re used to pushing things down, holding it together for everyone else, or telling yourself, “I should be fine by now.” Maybe part of you wants support & another part is unsure, tired, or scared to open things back up. If that’s you, it makes a lot of sense. Many of the people I work with feel stuck in patterns like people-pleasing, constant self-doubt, overthinking, or feeling burned out. You might feel on edge all the time, replay conversations in your head, or struggle to trust yourself & your choices. Others come in carrying the weight of trauma.

Hello! I find therapy to be a safe space to explore your life and find empathy for yourself. I am passionate about working with the LGBTQ+ community as a member of the community myself. I lead most of my sessions with care and empathy, focusing on empowering you to achieve the goals you create in our work together. I focus on issues such as life transitions, depression, anxiety, trauma, identity, and sexuality. Whether it's your first or fifth time in therapy, I meet you where you are, listen to what you need, and collaborate with you to discuss what healing can look like for you. At my practice, Elements Counseling and Wellness Spa, we also offer a variety of holistic care options that are often discounted for clients such as massage therapy, cold plunge, saunas, HALO salt cave, yoga classes, reiki, and much more. If you are interested in a more holistic healing approach, this may be the space for you.
