Therapists for college students near University of Texas at Austin
College can feel overwhelming. Classes pile up, friendships shift, family expectations get louder, and suddenly you’re supposed to make big decisions about your future while still figuring out who you are. It’s a lot, and many students tell me they feel stressed, anxious, or unsure of what they’re doing — even if they look “fine” on the outside. If you’ve been feeling this way too, you’re not alone. I’m a therapist who works with college students dealing with stress, social anxiety, career worries, and the ups and downs of adjusting to college life. In our sessions, you get a calm, supportive space to talk about what’s going on, sort through the noise, and learn ways to feel more grounded and confident day to day. We’ll look at what’s getting in your way, what you want for yourself, and what small steps can help you feel better — without pressure, judgment, or complicated language. You set the pace, and we focus on what matters most to you. Therapy can be a place to slow down, breathe, and figure out what you need to feel more like yourself again.
I love to make a meaningful impact on someone’s life. I make my clients feel understood by being present, using reflective listening, validating their feelings and summarization. I present myself in session with genuine interest, engage client in shared decision making, and collaborate to develop treatment goals.

I’m an LPC with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University and 2 years of clinical experience in both nonprofit and private practice settings. I work with individuals and couples navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, borderline personality disorder (BPD), bipolar disorder, relationship challenges, and life transitions. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling stuck in patterns that are hard to change on their own, overwhelmed by emotions, or unsure how to move forward in relationships or in life. My approach is eclectic and personalized, drawing from CBT, DBT, humanistic, gestalt, existential, and narrative therapy. I believe in unconditional positive regard, autonomy, and transparency—clients are the experts of their own lives, and my role is to help guide and support meaningful, lasting change in a way that fits who they are. In our first session, we complete a biopsychosocial assessment, talk through your goals, and make space for any questions you have about therapy. From there, we collaborate on a plan that feels comfortable and supportive, gradually exploring your history and patterns while building toward practical, forward-focused growth.

Hello! I utilize CBT, DBT, and a person-centered approach to ensure clients receive the best individualized treatment. I believe that everyone can benefit from counseling. I am a board-certified psychiatrist and Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. For me, being a physician is more than a profession—it is a vocation to help indviduals flourish. My practice is devoted to students and young adults seeking thoughtful, individualized psychiatric care that extends beyond symptom relief. I provide comprehensive evaluations that consider medical, nutritional, lifestyle, and psychological factors—including laboratory testing when clinically appropriate—to identify the contributors to emotional and cognitive health. I also specialize in evidence-based de-prescribing for patients who wish to reduce or discontinue psychiatric medications for anxiety, attention difficulties, or substance use disorders. My approach is guided by precision, humility, and restraint: using the least intensive intervention necessary while drawing upon the full breadth of evidence-based medicine. Depending on each patient's needs and goals, I integrate psychotherapy, nutrition, lifestyle medicine, exercise, targeted supplementation, and, when appropriate, carefully selected medications into a personalized treatment plan. In addition to my clinical work, I have presented internationally on psychiatric deprescribing and medical ethics. My work has been recognized with awards from the American Psychiatric Association, the International Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professions, the American Psychoanalytic Association, and other leading professional organizations. I am the Founder & Medical Director of Verigrate Health. I am licensed to serve patients in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Lousiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, Washington, D.C., and Wisconsin.

“It’s always best to believe in one’s self, but a little help from others can be a great blessing!” I view each person as the main character in their book of life. Each book contains stories of joy, sadness, exploration, struggle, and most importantly, HOPE. My goal to assist in exploring these stories, whether you encounter depression, anxiety, life transitions, relationship issues, intersectional struggles, or self-esteem issues...I am especially sensitive to those impacted by LGBTQ issues, religious minorities, activists, uniformed public servants, and those experiencing depression. I utilize a multiculturally sensitive approach, borrowing from ACT, DBT, MBCT, mindfulness, narrative, and solution-focused therapies to develop a collaborative and eclectic style to treatment, tailored to your needs. Cultures all over the world have a common truth: life is suffering. Through therapy, I hope to create a safe and empowering environment to help you withstand and overcome that suffering. I welcome you to reach out to start this journey.

Hi there. I work with teens and adults through complex trauma, relationships, life transitions, grief, anxiety and depression (to name a few). I also work with the marginalized in our communities, BIPOC, disabled, persons with chronic/rare illness and LGBTQ+. My practice is open to all. If you are feeling stuck or unsure about your next steps, I can help. I practice by getting in touch with our nervous systems as we navigate life's hardships. I use emotionally focused therapy and some somatic work. Get in touch should you need an empathetic person to walk side by side with you or if you would like to gain skills to help communicate with others.
Are you struggling with symptoms such as anxiety, depression, addiction, or difficulty in relationships, etc.? Have you tried therapy, but not gotten the results you desire? The cause could be past unresolved trauma that is blocking your ability to move forward. Trauma changes the nervous system and brain; therefore, treatment needs to be able to address the body and mind. My holistic approach through EMDR, IFS and other methods will help you get to the root causes and alleviate the disturbing symptoms you are experiencing. I am certified in EMDR treatment and provide a safe space for processing traumatic memories or disturbing life events. I have worked with hundreds of clients and have seen great improvement in a brief time. My clients have said they are amazed at the results and never thought they could feel positive andemor neutral about their past disturbances. I have been described as a trustworthy, compassionate and a calming therapist. I approach each client with respect and kindness. My desire is to help clients open the door for healing in a profound, caring and authentic way. My office is a safe, calm space for you to feel emotionally connected and deeply understood. “Ellen is amazing to work with. She is truly caring and supportive. She helped me so much with what I am going through." “I appreciated the safe space and your calm and non-judgemental approach during our sessions." "I hope you will know what a blessing you've been to me and to our family. I'm so grateful."
Monica is a bilingual therapist and the child of immigrants who believes that true healing grows from the threads that connect us — to our bodies, to the people around us, and to the world we inhabit. Growing up between cultures, she learned early how identity, language, and community shape our sense of self. Her journey to counseling has been shaped not only by professional experience in diverse communities and holistic mind-body practices, but also by years of personal self-healing and self-discovery through reading, reflection, and engagement with feminist theory and history. These experiences have deepened her understanding of how gender, power, and society influence our inner lives and relationships. She works with women and femmes who have ADHD and has a nuanced understanding of how gender shapes ADHD lived experiences. Monica provides compassionate support for the unique challenges and strengths ADHD brings, helping clients navigate identity, relationships, and self-trust with insight and validation. In working with Monica, clients will learn about themselves and ways to leverage their neurodiversity to their benefit, allowing it to enhance their lives rather than hinder them. Monica is also passionate about supporting women in reclaiming their sensuality, self-trust, and pleasure, particularly in the wake of trauma. Her work in this area integrates conversation, somatic awareness, mindfulness, and embodiment practices, including yoga. By creating a safe and affirming space where clients can explore intimacy, desire, boundaries, and identity without shame, the therapeutic space allows clients to heal, reconnect, and embody their true sensual power. Through therapy, Monica guides clients to reconnect with themselves fully. In connecting to their bodies, minds, desires, and voices, clients can cultivate lives that feel grounded, empowered, and authentically their own.
