Therapists for college students near Houston, TX
Kylie Lahey Mental Health Services, PLLC
Hi! My main goal is always to help my clients to help themselves, so you feel empowered to embrace stress and change as it comes. With experience working in an eating disorder hospital and 7 years working as a therapist in the Athletic Depts at UT Austin and CU Boulder, I've been involved with supporting my clients through the life challenges that high schoolers, young adults, and adults face for my entire professional career. I am EMDR certified and use this to treat trauma, eating disorders, chronic pain, urges in addiction/EDs, and sport performance (both positive reinforcement as well as treating mental blocks). I particularly enjoy teaching tools for navigating anxiety and depressive symptoms, helping to make peace with body image, and supporting mental performance for sport. I also have a passion for supporting perfectionists to expand their view of themselves and learn to release a little of the control that is actually controlling them!

I specialize in helping adults who struggle with anxiety related to relationships, careers, stress, and family issues. These individuals have reported feeling stuck, overwhelmed, and anxious. My approach to counseling is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT focuses on empowering you to resolve issues independently through exercises during our sessions and ""homework"" assignments. I assist clients in developing coping skills that enable them to change their thinking, manage problematic emotions, and modify their behavior. I'm a therapist with Octave and Evernorth Behavioral Care Group. Octave is a mental health practice providing high-quality care covered by multiple insurances. Evernorth Behavioral Care Group is a behavioral health provider group in-network with Cigna Healthcare and Evernorth. For my availability, please reach out to Octave’s team by emailing or calling.

As a student intern, I offer your first 3 sessions free, with sessions after that at $25. I work best with students who feel stuck between who they've been and who they're becoming — figuring out a major, questioning a career path, or navigating the pressure of what comes after graduation. A lot of my clients are dealing with the stress of balancing school, work, and relationships all at once, and wondering if they're 'doing it right.' I also connect well with students who think or process differently than what's expected of them, and who are tired of feeling like they have to fit into a box that wasn't built for them. You don't need to have it all figured out before reaching out. We'll work together to figure out what's actually going on and what might help — at your pace, without judgment.

It's wonderful you're taking the step to care for your mental health! I have a heart for college and graduate students and understand the unique stressors of university life, such as academic pressure, social anxieties, and the transition to independence. I am also passionate about helping individuals explore how their cultural and ethnic identities and upbringing interplay with their mental well-being, including the experiences related to cultural identity and navigating multiple cultural spaces. My background as a teacher, HR professional, writer, wife, mother, and therapist has broadened my empathy and understanding of diverse experiences. I graduated with a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling from Northwestern University and am trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), a well-researched method for trauma. I offer a collaborative therapeutic approach, and utilize many researched methods tailored to your individual needs. I understand that family history and early relationships can significantly impact mental health, so I often begin by exploring these areas. Together, we'll create a plan to achieve your goals. I enjoy working with adults of all ages, but I have a special fondness of college and graduate students during this unique time of exploration and adjustment. Please reach out, and let's figure things out together!

I work with trauma-survivors to provide a loving, healing, safe space where you can process your experiences, be seen & supported around what happened, gain important knowledge or insight around how this experience may be affecting you, and learn new ways to cope with the losses you incurred. As a client-led therapist, you are always in control of the work we are doing together in therapy. I have an array of interventions and tools that we can work with, from working with the mind (ie. CBT), the body (ie. Brainspotting), or through looking at the macro (society) and micro (internal family systems) systems that are affecting you or preventing you from living your best life. My goal is to make the therapy room safe, loving, and open so you can have the space to self-reflect and make conscious choices of how to move towards healthier living. I offer FREE consultations to make sure we are a good fit and you'd like to work with me. Please sign up on my website for an immediate appointment.

Healing begins in a space where you feel heard, respected, and accepted just as you are. As a bilingual (English and Spanish) therapist, I support adults who have experienced hurtful or unhealthy relationships, including emotional or physical abuse, and are navigating the impact these experiences can have on their lives. I understand that culture, family, and personal experiences shape how we view ourselves and our relationships, and I strive to provide care that honors your unique story and values. My goal is to help you reconnect with your strengths, create healthier relationships, and move toward the life you want. My approach is warm, supportive, and empowering, with a focus on helping you recognize your strengths and create meaningful change. I work collaboratively with clients to better understand their experiences, heal from past hurts, and develop tools for building confidence, setting boundaries, and creating healthier patterns in their relationships. Therapy is a process we navigate together, at a pace that feels comfortable and meaningful for you. You don't have to have it all together to start therapy. I'd be honored to support you along your path towards healing!

Amidst It All Therapy & Development
If you’ve been feeling like you’ve kind of lost yourself lately, you’re not alone—and you’re exactly who I love working with. A lot of the people I see are juggling school, expectations, relationships, and big life decisions, while quietly feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of who they really are. You might overthink everything, struggle to say no, or feel pressure to have it all figured out—even when you don’t. In our work together, you won’t get a stiff or overly clinical experience. I show up as a real person—warm, down-to-earth, and sometimes bringing in humor when it helps take the edge off. I’ll help you slow things down, make sense of what you’re feeling, and start trusting yourself more so you can feel grounded, confident, and more like you again.
