If you are looking for a different type of counselor where you build an authentic relationship, you’re in the right place. To best help my patients, I believe that a solid and authentic relationship must be built between counselor and you. The most important part about counseling is that you feel heard and comfortable. My experience consists of 6 plus years of working with adults and adolescents in a private health setting. I have a Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of North Texas. As a counselor, I have worked with patients who have anxiety, depression, stress, self-esteem, and grief/grieving issues. My specialties lie in working with patients who have experienced domestic violence, sexual assault, trauma, and pregnancy issues, and abortion. Although I do follow a combination of counseling theories, my main framework would be Humanistic “Person-centered.” This means that I have great respect for your autonomy and your ability to discern your own path, solutions, and direction in life. My goal in therapy is to help you discover the answers that lie within yourself to better your life at a pace that you feel comfortable with. I look forward to helping you create some relief from your worries in life. Whether that's the stress and frustrations of daily life or overcoming personal trauma, I'm confident I can help guide you through the bad days and bring a different perspective that will help you take back control of your life.

Many of the clients I work with are looking to work through trauma and work towards building and maintaining fulfilling relationships, process trauma from relationships, reduce anxiety and depression, and learn healthy coping skills. In sessions I place high importance on the relationships I build with my clients as this plays the most crucial role in therapy success. I model my values by maintaining an approach that is affirming, trauma-informed, open-minded, and compassionate while also being direct. My approach will honor your unique experience and be focused on your personal needs. I incorporate CBT, RCT, EMDR & narrative therapy into our sessions to help you navigate harmful thinking patterns/behaviors, process trauma, & have healthier relationships with yourself/others.
I am currently a graduate student at Midwestern State University. Site Supervisor: JacQue' Timberlake and University Supervisor: Dr. Tara Fox Are you feeling overwhelmed or struggling with difficult emotions? Do you find yourself irritable, anxious, or weighed down by past events? You don’t have to navigate these challenges alone. You deserve to feel better and live a fulfilling life.
I am a patient, compassionate, non-judgmental helping professional who understands struggle and uncertainty. I believe that people are generally doing their best, and that growth and change can be difficult, uncomfortable, and scary. I think that having someone help you navigate through times of uncertainty, sit with you in your struggles, and challenge your beliefs and behaviors can be instrumental in understanding how and why your behavior patterns are contributing to your distress and preventing you from moving forward. I approach counseling from an interpersonal attachment-based perspective, in that I believe relational issues are the driving force behind our emotions, motivations, and behaviors. I specialize in working with clients who struggle with substance use and abuse, specifically individuals who work in the service and hospitality industries. I also have experience counseling clients with anxiety disorders, mood disorders, borderline personality disorder, and relationship difficulties. I received my Masters in Counseling from Loyola University New Orleans and I am a provisionally licensed professional counselor. I find inspiration personally and professionally in the works of Brené Brown, Irvin Yalom, Gabor Maté, and Thich Nhat Han. I counsel individuals, groups, and couples. I respect everyone's individuality and do not discriminate against anyone.
I have personal and professional experience with acculturation and specialize in providing cross-cultural therapy for biracial/bi-cultural issues. Additionally, I am an AASECT-certified sex therapist. I integrate specialized approaches in my work with folks who identify as Muslim, Arab, Middle Eastern, North African, and South Asian. I provide a non-judgmental and safe space for LGBTQ, kink, and poly persons of color in my practice. I work with adults struggling with anxiety, sexual disorders, chronic medical conditions, bereavement, trauma, and relationships. In my practice, I will work with you in a safe space to explore and address the difficulties the prevent you from living a fulfilling life. Great to meet you! Hello, I’m Anjanette McCullar, a Licensed Professional Counselor with a strong background in education, counseling, and wellness. My path to counseling has been shaped by more than 15 years of working with children, adolescents, families, and communities—as a teacher, school counselor, group facilitator, and now therapist. I hold multiple degrees, including a Master’s in School Counseling and a Master’s in Educational Administration, along with specialized training in counseling, restorative yoga, and children’s yoga. This blend of education and wellness training allows me to approach therapy from a holistic perspective—supporting not only your mental and emotional well-being, but also recognizing how physical health, lifestyle, and environment influence your life. In my counseling work, I draw on my experience in both school and community settings to help clients navigate challenges such as life transitions, grief and loss, relationship dynamics, anxiety, self-esteem, and stress management. I believe therapy is a collaborative process, and I work to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered to grow. Because of my background in athletics, coaching, and wellness practices, I also integrate mindfulness, movement, and practical coping strategies when they align with your needs and goals. Whether we’re exploring patterns in relationships, developing tools for self-regulation, or setting steps toward personal change, I tailor my approach to fit you as a whole person. Above all, my goal is to meet you where you are, help you discover your strengths, and walk alongside you as you move toward healing and a more fulfilling life. A bit about my approach to therapy I believe therapy works best when it’s a collaborative partnership—where you bring your life experiences and I bring tools, perspective, and support to help you move forward. My style is warm, empathetic, and goal-oriented. I work to balance compassion with gentle challenges that help you grow, all while creating a safe, nonjudgmental environment where you can be your authentic self. I take a whole-person approach, integrating mental, emotional, physical, and social well-being into the process. This often means blending traditional talk therapy with mindfulness, restorative practices, and practical skills you can use in everyday life. My background in education, school counseling, and yoga allows me to address both immediate challenges and long-term personal development. I specialize in helping clients navigate: Life transitions and adjustment challenges Grief and loss Anxiety and stress management Self-esteem and identity development Relationship and communication issues In every session, I tailor my methods to your unique needs—whether that’s providing a safe space to process emotions, developing action steps toward your goals, or learning new skills to handle life’s challenges with more confidence and resilience. My ultimate goal is for you to leave therapy feeling more empowered, self-aware, and equipped to create the life you want. What you can expect from our first session In our sessions, you can expect a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where you feel safe to share your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and respected—no matter what challenges you are facing. We will work together to: Increase self-awareness so you can better understand your emotions, behaviors, and patterns. Develop coping strategies that help you manage stress, anxiety, and life transitions more effectively. Strengthen relationships by improving communication skills and setting healthy boundaries. Build resilience so you can face challenges with greater confidence and flexibility. Enhance overall well-being through a whole-person approach that considers your mental, emotional, physical, and social health. My sessions are collaborative—I will guide, support, and challenge you when needed, but you will always be an active partner in your own growth. Depending on your needs, we may integrate mindfulness, movement-based practices, and practical tools you can use in everyday life. Courage isn’t about having no fear—it’s about feeling it and walking straight toward it. And let’s be honest, some days courage is just answering the phone, replying to that text, or—YIKES—opening the front door. Maybe you’ve mastered looking “fine” on the outside, while on the inside you’re desperately hoping no one gets close enough to see the real you. I get it. We all want life to be easy, but counseling? Yeah, it’s not always easy. It’s work. It’s showing up. It’s sticking with it when it feels uncomfortable. If you’re still reading this, I’m guessing something in your life feels heavy and you wish it could just magically change. I can’t promise magic—but I can promise to walk beside you every step of the way, helping you find your footing and your balance again.
