Therapists for college students near 19122
My passion for this work stems from my own struggles with mental health throughout my life. I know firsthand how important it is to have the proper support. I identify with the LGBTQIA+, kink/BDSM, and poly/ENM communities, so I am familiar with the unique issues facing these marginalized communities, and also the struggle to find a safe space to express your unique self when seeking help. Whether the issues you are seeking therapy for are directly related to your identity or not, you can freely be yourself in our sessions and let your guard down. You will not have to expend the emotional labor to educate me about your identity(ies). I provide a safe space, while clarifying your goals and desired outcome for therapy. I tailor my approach to your unique needs. However you identify, I will meet you where you are at on your personal journey, and together we can work to figure out how you can live your most authentic life. Change does not happen overnight. It requires time, patience, and a willingness to be vulnerable. If you are ready to take the first step today, I would love to hear from you so we can get started! I believe that therapy should set you up to live real life, so I’m all about helping my clients develop coping skills to deal with life’s stressors and challenges. Let’s be honest - fixing all of your problems isn’t very realistic, is it?? I also emphasize being realistic about how our minds work. How many times have you had an unpleasant thought or emotion that you tried to banish from your mind once and for all, just to notice that the thought or emotion came back? That’s why I work with clients to change their relationship with distressing thoughts, emotions, and symptoms instead of trying to avoid or change them. I support my clients in recognizing that as long as we don’t let distressing thoughts and feelings overpower us, we are free to make choices that add up to create a fulfilling life. My therapeutic style is very collaborative and inquisitive. I believe that therapy is a group project between my client and me, meaning that it is important for clients to be engaged in therapy and apply what they learn in therapy to their own lives outside of session. I’m the type of therapist that asks open-ended questions to help my clients make connections between their past and their present lives and between their internal experiences and external environment. Therapy is a long game, so to speak. I believe in the importance in supporting my clients in taking their time to build better understanding of the self, as well as learning helpful coping skills. We’ll go at your pace - there’s no rush!

You feel like there's a rule book for life that you missed. Things were ok until college started, but now the social stressors, time management, relationships, or even just getting easy assignments done is hard. You have/need an ADHD or Autism diagnosis, or maybe people tell you that you should, but what does that really mean? I can help you understand what this means for you; how impacts you, and what this might mean in relationships. This might include work on planning, executive functioning, anxiety, working on personal goal setting/finding direction, or a diagnostic evaluation, or being yourself. You'll have a safe place to be yourself, insight into your life, and concrete tips for moving forward, allowing you to be the best possible version of yourself. It's about you.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor. I have over ten years of experience as a therapist working with clients whose lives have been affected by addiction. Because I am educated and trained to work with family systems, I am always treating relationships. It doesn't matter if I work with an individual client, a couple, or a family. Your relationships matter to me and are an integral part of our work. My ideal client is someone that has been or is currently affected by addiction - their own or someone else's.
The families and students who thrive in my practice often arrive seeking support for the very real challenges they face—challenges that can feel isolating, overwhelming, or misunderstood in other settings. Many of my clients are navigating: Autism and the need for a more affirming, strength-based approach that values neurodiversity. ADHD and the daily push-pull of focus, impulsivity, and emotional intensity. The lingering effects of trauma, where safety, trust, and connection need to be rebuilt. Executive function struggles that impact school, home routines, and relationships. Emotional regulation challenges, especially when big feelings lead to big reactions. A deep desire to improve family communication, but feeling stuck in old patterns. What they share is not just the presence of these challenges—but also a commitment to change, a curiosity about their own growth, and families who want to better understand and support one another. In our work together, we don’t just manage behaviors—we build insight, confidence, and skills. We make space for emotional expression, teach tools that empower independence, and strengthen co-regulation and communication across the whole family system.

In our sessions, we’ll explore patterns, address unhelpful cycles, and build new, healthier ways of moving through the world. Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy drinking coffee, crocheting, hiking, and spending time outdoors. I also have a deep love for plants and find peace in caring for them.
