Therapists for college students near Portland State University
It’s important to me that that therapy is a space for all people to feel safe and accepted. I have extensive experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and belief systems. I specialize in working with LGBQIA+, Trans*/GNC, and poly-identified clients. My approach fosters a space where you can be unapologetically YOU. My perspective is warm, accepting, and uses a harm reduction lens. It is important to me that we find what works for you, so I truly value your feedback in the therapeutic process.
My goal as your therapist is to provide you with a secure and receptive space for free expression so you can open up and embrace your most authentic self. Together, we will work through obstacles, discover your strengths, and empower you to embrace a more fulfilling life.
My passion lies in supporting people who may feel stuck, stagnant, or caught in repeating patterns, and who are ready to try something different. The journey forward isn’t always easy, but the support of a compassionate therapist can help you find your way. I strive to create a nurturing space where you can unpack your experiences, reflect deeply, and begin to explore, challenge, and redefine how you show up for yourself and in your life. I warmly welcome individuals of all identities, backgrounds, and orientations. My areas of expertise includes racial and cultural identity, intergenerational trauma, and the challenges of navigating multicultural or bicultural worlds, or those living at the intersections of multiple identities. I practice from a social justice, multicultural, trauma informed, and anti-oppressive framework, ensuring that our work together is inclusive, affirming, and compassionate. I strive to create a space where all parts of you are seen, heard, and valued. A space that honors the depth, complexity, and richness of your lived experience. College can bring a lot at once: more independence, academic pressure, changing relationships, questions about identity, and the uncertainty of what comes next. Even when things are going well, it can still feel overwhelming, isolating, or hard to manage alone. Horizon Online Therapy is a small telehealth practice offering therapy for college students in Oregon. We are not a large platform or a call-center-style service. We are a small team of clinicians who value steady, personal, and collaborative care. Our therapists support students dealing with anxiety, trauma, relationship stress, burnout, identity questions, family conflict, perfectionism, and major life transitions. We work with students who may be adjusting to college, navigating cultural or family expectations, exploring identity and belonging, or trying to understand patterns that keep getting in the way. Our team includes: Alex, who works with adoptees, immigrants, and students from multicultural backgrounds, with a focus on identity, belonging, trauma, and the experience of living between cultures. Tenaya, who supports LGBTQ+ students, students navigating relationships, and those struggling with stress, perfectionism, self-doubt, or feeling stuck. Rachel, who brings a holistic approach and incorporates mindfulness, EMDR, and somatic therapy for students working through trauma, burnout, or significant life changes. Therapy with us is warm, practical, and individualized. We offer online sessions so students can access care from a private space that works for them. Our goal is not to tell you who to be, but to help you feel more grounded, more connected to yourself, and better able to manage what you are carrying. You do not have to have everything figured out before reaching out. Therapy can be a place to slow down, sort through what is happening, and get support that feels real.
I love working with young people as they get to know themselves, embark on new opportunities, and grapple with difficult emotional and relational challenges. Sometimes people notice that unresolved grief or trauma comes up for them during a life transition and I am here to support. I offer a welcoming, non judgmental space to talk through what is coming up for you. Change and healing is hard and you shouldn't have to do it alone.
I believe mental health challenges can affect anyone, regardless of wealth, status, or reputation. Seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness, and there is always hope—no matter what you've been through or are going through. I offer a space of acceptance and support, helping you navigate difficulties and rediscover your joy, peace, and resilience. I specialize in helping individuals navigate relationships and heal from trauma. With a compassionate, collaborative approach, I help you uncover strengths, shift limiting patterns, and build resilience. I support you in developing healthier coping strategies and achieving meaningful goals. I know reaching out for support can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to face it alone. If you're feeling stuck or ready for change, I’m here to help you uncover your strengths and work toward a life that feels true to you. When you're ready, reach out—I'd be honored to support you on your journey.
I often work with clients who struggle with anxiety and depressive disorders, historic and/or complex trauma, identity exploration, LGBTQ+ issues, BIPOC/POC issues, and life transitions. My approach is person-centered, emotion-focused, and integrative based on other therapeutic modalities (e.g., Mindfulness, ACT, Parts Work), and collaborate with my clients on what would work best for them and their needs.

Hi, I'm Lauren! I am a non-binary, queer AuDHD therapist practicing psychodynamic clinical social work in Massachusetts and Oregon. I also identify as white and mid-fat. My pronouns are she/they. In my practice, I specialize in working with adults who identify as, or are exploring whether they may be, LGBTQIA2S+ and/or neurodivergent, especially autistic and/or ADHD. In addition, I help clients work through issues related to depression, anxiety, and relational difficulties. Through an affirming and integrative approach, I provide a warm and supportive therapeutic environment for clients to explore their inner selves and make positive changes in their lives. My work with clients is collaborative, as together we delve into the reasons behind persistent challenges and unearth new aspects of their identities and experiences, ultimately making space for growth, healing, and flourishing. For neurodivergent clients, our sessions often involve working on strategies to improve executive functioning, which includes skills like task initiation, time management, organization, attention, and planning. My approach is aligned with the Health at Every Size (HAES) framework.
Hi! I'm glad you found me here in a sea of so many qualified therapists. What sets me apart from many other providers is the guiding principle that effective therapy is much more art than science. Research has consistently shown that the most influential common factor in effective therapy is a comfortable working relationship with your therapist (as opposed to a specialized treatment protocol or even years of experience). As such, I treat the quality and trust within our therapeutic relationship as the number one priority. I strive to provide a space in which we can engage collaboratively, to gain greater understanding through curiosity and exploration, ultimately working to address the root causes of your struggles. Developing an awareness and insight into your thoughts and decision making is key to attaining greater fulfillment and life satisfaction. You are more than what brings you into therapy and I recognize that the sum total of your lived experience is what makes you 'you'. Therapy allows you to be completely open and honest without fear of judgment, ultimately providing you the capacity to live authentically. I offer a free 15-minute consult; contact me or schedule via my website to see if I'm a good fit for you!
