I have been practicing for over 30 years. I mainly have a client-focused approach. I’ve treated issues such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, trauma, career counseling, relationship stress, substance abuse, and others. In addition to psychotherapy, I have experience as a Life Coach. I also have training in sport psychology. I have developed Activity Therapy, bringing in a client’s sport, hobby, or other activity into the session. If you have specific questions, feel free to call, text, or email. I offer a free phone consultation for first time clients.

At the heart of psychotherapy is accompaniment through one’s inner world. Current difficulties, past struggles, individual and familial traumas, hidden hopes and dreams – all of this will be central to making sense of your present and building toward your future. Starting psychotherapy can feel intimidating, but the benefits can be huge: deeper self-understanding, more meaningful and authentic relationships, reduced depression and anxiety, increased self-confidence. I have worked with a diverse swath of undergrad and graduate students in college counseling centers, and have studied and taught at private and public universities across the country. My specializations include relationship struggles, family conflict and crisis, identity development, career direction, academic concerns, gender and sexuality, trauma, spirituality, creativity, chronic illness, immigration, and LGBTQIA+ issues in teens and adults. I am committed to meeting you where you are at in the therapeutic process, and I welcome exploration of racial, sexual, and gender identities. I am a Harvard Medical School Psychiatry fellow trained in psychodynamic, relational, cognitive behavioral, and mindfulness-based therapies, but I believe a strong sense of connection is the most important element in seeking a therapist. I encourage you to reach out to a number of practitioners to find a good match. I look forward to hearing from you.

My approach to psychotherapy is primarily relational and psychodynamic, guided by the concept that healing and change happen in relationship. I aim to create a containing environment where we can be compassionately curious about how your past experiences inform your present. My work incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Liberation Health Model, and mindfulness-based interventions to help meet clients’ unique and wide-ranging needs. I provide a supportive, affirming space for clients’ diverse intersecting identities and experiences (e.g., race, immigration status, gender, sexuality). I provide psychotherapy to adults of all ages and have experience helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, identity exploration, life transitions, grief and loss, shame, trauma, and relational stressors. I also have expertise supporting clients through the challenges of college, graduate school, postgraduate life, and emerging adulthood. Before arriving at CAS, I completed a postgraduate fellowship in psychodynamic psychotherapy at Cambridge Health Alliance. I also worked in university, medical, and community-based mental health services in academic counseling, peer education, and clinical research.

Our experienced team of addiction specialists and mental health professionals will work closely with each client to develop a personalized treatment plan that addresses their unique needs and challenges. Through a combination of evidence-based therapies, individual counseling, group therapy sessions, and holistic approaches, we aim to empower individuals to overcome addiction and build a solid foundation for lasting recovery. IOP program Our IOP program is ideal for individuals who have completed a higher level of care, such as PHP or inpatient treatment and are ready to transition to a less intensive level of support. Clients in our IOP program will participate in individual therapy sessions, group therapy, relapse prevention education, and other therapeutic activities that promote healing and growth. At The Recovery Team Newton We understand that addiction is a complex and multifaceted disease that affects individuals physically, mentally, and emotionally. That is why our treatment approach is holistic, addressing all aspects of an individual’s well-being. We believe in treating the whole person, not just the addiction. We understand that recovery is a lifelong journey, and we are committed to providing our clients with the tools and resources they need to maintain sobriety beyond their time in our programs. Our aftercare services include relapse prevention planning, alumni support groups, individual counseling, and referrals to community resources. I am a pre-Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and a Registered Drama Therapist (RDT). If you are feeling anxious, exploring your identities, transitioning to different cultures, environments, or age groups, I am here for you. I create a safe space for you to be heard and feel authentic. Being fluent in Japanese and coming from a different cultural background, my approach is rooted in understanding diverse emotional and cultural perspectives of my clients. I have experience providing individual and group therapy to clients ranging from children to adults with neurodevelopmental disorders, as well as those navigating anxiety, life and/or cultural transitions and trauma. My specialty is expressive therapies, particularly drama therapy. I can utilize drama therapy or expressive arts-based approach if you think that might be helpful. Words sometimes cannot articulate everything you are feeling or experiencing, but I believe imagination, embodied expression, and play can narrate them in different ways. My goal is to support you by navigating your challenges and embracing your unique stories. If you think using words in another language other than English can express your emotions well, we can explore that too. We can find a healthy relationship with your challenges by utilizing your innate creativity. 日本語でもどうぞ!
