I am an experienced psychotherapist (LICSW) and Certified Group Psychotherapist (CGP) working with individuals, couples and groups. I hold a PhD in biochemistry, which informs my work in psychotherapy by integrating current research in neurobiology into my treatment approach. I believe in the resilience of every human being and work to capitalize on the best in people I work with. I specialize in attachment trauma, loss, relationship issues, challenging life transitions and the negative coping styles that often accompany them. I am trained in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), an emotionally focused therapy heavily informed by neurobiology and how we heal relationally as social beings. Alongside of understanding you through your relationships and life experiences, we will highlight new experiences and positive change that will help you reach your goals. For more about AEDP go to www.AEDPInstitute.org. My broader training consists of proactive cognitive behavior therapy, mindfulness techniques, stress reduction strategies, and relational and communication tools. My goal in working with you is to actively move you toward your goals. I run relationship groups for people who struggle with relationship issues. Please see my website for further information. My practice is LGBTQ welcoming and multiculturally informed.

Hello and welcome! Having worked in academic settings as a teacher and college counselor since 2004, I understand the multiple stressors that can impact students' lives. In my practice, I primarily lead with an interpersonal, relational framework to assist you in establishing a safe and supportive space from which treatment can begin. My co-therapist is my dog, Dahlia, who will serve as a comforting companion in your introspective journey. I also incorporate elements of Internal Family Systems, Animal Assisted Therapy (Canine), Nature Walk Therapy, Psychodynamic, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and Mindfulness models when clinically appropriate. Most of my sessions are done online with the option for in-person Nature Therapy sessions, when requested. The emphasis of our collaboration will be on developing new paradigms for self-compassion, cultivating self-care practices, and expanding your self-awareness. Let me know how I might help.

The college years can be some of the most overwhelming — academic pressure, perfectionism, anxiety, homesickness, identity shifts, and the weight of major transitions, often layered on top of experiences you carried here long before. Whatever you're navigating, I'll meet you with directness, honesty, and genuine warmth — and there will likely be some laughter along the way. We'll work toward your goals as a team, with care tailored to you and shaped by an understanding that your background, identity, and lived experience matter deeply. This is a space space, and all are welcome here. I commonly work with students navigating: - Anxiety and perfectionism - Depression - Trauma and past experiences - Chronic illness and chronic pain - Homesickness and life transitions - Identity and self-worth Therapy with me is supportive and nonjudgmental — and direct. Expect to be gently challenged. Together we'll work on dismantling negative core beliefs, shifting unhelpful thought patterns, building healthy boundaries, and finding coping skills that actually fit your life . Our first session is about you. I'll walk you through what to expect and your rights as a client, and you'll have space to ask questions. Building trust and rapport makes the work possible — so we'll begin laying that foundation while I gather some important background. My goal is that when you leave, you feel heard, understood, and genuinely hopeful that growth is possible.

This enables me to address specific traumas and disorders related to race and ethnicity, creating a safe and inclusive space for individuals seeking support. My specialization extends to individual, couples, and group therapy. Therapeutic modalities I practice include Behavioral, Psychoanalytic, Cognitive, and Humanistic. We provide outpatient trauma-focused psychotherapy and mind-body wellness counseling for youth, adults, couples and families who have been impacted by interpersonal trauma, loss, social oppression and other forms of life adversity. We recognize that exposure to trauma is a pervasive reality in our world. We pay careful attention to the wide range of historical experiences that contribute to ongoing distress in those we serve. We understand our clients’ struggles through the lens of complex trauma, with the belief that individuals are shaped most profoundly by their earliest and closest relationships. When those relationships have been fraught with chronic adversity – whether due to maltreatment and neglect, poverty and discrimination, or the legacy of intergenerational or ancestral trauma – it can alter the course of healthy human development in profound ways. One’s emotions, self-worth, behaviors, and overall functioning can be deeply impacted. One’s relationships, schooling, and occupation may suffer. One’s goals and dreams, spiritual direction and overall life path can get derailed. In the same breath, we honor the resilience of the human spirit, and marvel at the capacity of every person to survive, heal, persevere and ultimately thrive despite seemingly overwhelming obstacles.

I became a therapist to provide support and affirmation to folks with systemically oppressed identities (e.g., trans and queer folks, ADHDers, kinksters, chronically ill/disabled folks, POC, cis women). I am dedicated to working with individuals facing interpersonal, life, and identity-related challenges, such as navigating gender roles and emerging adulthood (college and grad students welcome!). I collaborate with clients on a variety of concerns, such as anxiety, relationships/dating, boundaries, difference in views/beliefs from family of origin, and imposter syndrome. In my work, I use approaches such as Relational-Cultural Therapy (RCT) and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) to support clients. I like to mix in gentleness, deep exploration, celebration, and the occasional “dad joke” to our work. My clients tell me this approach makes them feel truly heard, learn to advocate for themselves, and move toward their values. I believe that you deserve frank, warm support and to not be handled with kid gloves (or the dreaded, overly soothing “therapist voice”). If you want to invite me onto your therapy journey, I’d be thrilled to hear from you. I offer a free, 15 minute consultation to discuss what you hope to gain from therapy and to tell you more about what I can offer you. My Background and Approach I am devoted to building genuine, nourishing connections with my clients. My graduate training focused on providing multiculturally affirming therapy to people of a variety of backgrounds and intersecting identities. I also trained in evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) to aid clients in achieving their therapeutic goals. I have specialized training in working with members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community and the young adult population, both in university and community health settings. Last, I bring my lived experience as a Queer, White, chronically ill, genderqueer being to my work with clients. I own my privilege and discuss, as it arises, power dynamics that may occur between us due to our identities, beliefs, and experiences. I believe these conversations are critical for full honesty and trust in your mental health journey.
