I have been in private practice for 20 years, with my specialty focusing on individuals resolving historic traumas and women balancing all of the complications of womanhood in a fast paced, demanding world. In all of my therapeutic work I talk about "traumas". Traumas can be events or messages we internalize about ourselves from the past. Traumas can be brilliantly adaptive: helping us to become incredible, impressive humans. Our traumas can also hold us back in many ways that may be limiting our happiness: the other side of the proverbial coin.

Kaitlin Boyd
Clinical Social Work/Therapist
Denver, CO

Kaitlin Boyd is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Yoga Teacher. She specializes in helping teens and adults who are struggling with worry and sadness and want to learn how to confidently embody their authentic selves. Many of her clients are Empaths or Highly Sensitive People--they crave "more" out of life and are seekers with big questions about how to create a life worth living. They have a multitude of strengths, including the ability to feel deep compassion for others and to think critically about the world we live in. But they can also struggle with feeling misunderstood and can develop low self-confidence after focusing so much of their time and attention on others. In therapy, Kaitlin works to help clients express their true selves and find inner peace. Her approach is holistic and evidence-based, using techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Somatic Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), and Existential Therapy. She teaches skills to help clients cope and relate to others in healthy ways, as well as mindfulness to get in touch with the "root cause" of clients' suffering, which can be anything from an unhelpful thought pattern to an unexpressed emotion. Kaitlin welcomes a diversity of clientele and provides a safe space for clients interested in exploring their experience of oppression in the multitude of ways it manifests in our culture. Kaitlin offers the flexibility of remote online therapy sessions.

I have a wide range of experience working with individuals. I primarily focus on helping clients understand how experiences in their life have influenced their beliefs, behaviors, emotions and relationships. I think this helps clients understand what action they need to take to feel connected to themselves and others. If I can be helpful in deepening your relationships with others and self please give me a call. I have been a therapist for 15 years. I have worked in the field of addiction for 6 years. I work with individuals processing, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, trauma, and navigating life transitions. Therapy is helpful and daunting. I remember when I first went to therapy I felt uncomfortable, embarrassed, and scared. I also wanted something to be different in my life. Things did change and I felt better. I believe you can have the same experience and I can offer you a compassionate, experienced, presence that will help you find the change you want.

My hope is that you can find the emotional tools that you need to have a full, peaceful, and happy life. The therapeutic process is a very personal experience that we come to for different reasons. No matter where you are in your life journey, my goal is to honor your process and provide you with a safe space to heal, learn new skills, and receive support. I specialized in Maternal Mental Health, Breakup/Divorce Recovery, Generalized Anxiety, and Career Counseling. We often feel trapped by our circumstances, voiceless in our relationships and powerless to cause significant change in our lives. But whether you are seeking individual, couples, or group therapy, you have taken a leap into the process of healing. With curiosity and a fresh perspective, I aim to empower you to reclaim your voice, work towards the change you seek, and to meet your authentic self. Though you have already taken the first step, I hope to foster the healing process even further by providing a deeply caring, non-judgmental atmosphere. It has been important for me to work with a wide breadth of clients. I have experience with diverse age groups, races, gender identities, and sexual orientations, and have worked in community mental health, residential treatment, school settings, and private practice. If you are are seeking a space to explore feelings connected to lack of motivation, avoidance, anxiety, low self-esteem, difficulty in platonic and romantic relationships, and feeling burnout from your current way of moving through the world, know that there is hope of having a different experience of yourself, your relationships and the world around you. Within working with a wide breath of clients, I have a passion for men’s mental health and working with young men and the issues that come up in their lives today. Through it all, however, my approach has always been focused on the human in front of me, and in meeting them where they are. I work with my individuals, couples and groups to help you gain a better understanding of yourself and your relationships. With a psychodynamic lens and a belief that as a species we all have the need to connect, I look forward to hearing from you to see how we may feel about working together.

You may notice sleep worsening, stress lingering, or feeling on edge without knowing why. Anxiety, depression, or past experiences often show up first in the body, mood, or relationships. I’m Steve Valente, LCSW, a therapist in Colorado with over 30 years in social services. In addition to my clinical work, I’m a touring musician, which gives me a unique understanding of the pressures and unpredictability of creative life. I especially enjoy working with musicians and creatives to stay grounded, manage stress, and build a life that supports both mental health and passion.
