It is important to me to provide skills, tools, and options for individuals to feel empowered in managing their life challenges on their own. I approach the therapeutic relationship from an open and honest space. I believe in building a relationship that is supportive, genuine, and collaborative as well as challenging and directive. Healing and progress are often made with a wholistic approach that can include additional support from families, communities, groups, and non-traditional healing practices. Thus, striving to collaborate in creating a treatment plan that is both evidence-based and individualized. I'm a therapist with Octave and Evernorth Behavioral Care Group. Octave is a mental health practice providing high-quality care covered by multiple insurances. Evernorth Behavioral Care Group is a behavioral health provider group in-network with Cigna Healthcare and Evernorth. For my availability, please reach out to Octave’s team by emailing or calling.

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Online
Long Beach, CA

I’m a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a Master’s degree from Azusa Pacific University, where I graduated with honors. I began my nursing career in 2019 and have been dedicated to supporting individuals on their mental health journeys ever since. My approach blends clinical expertise with empathy, always aiming to create a safe, supportive space where patients feel truly heard and understood. I believe that everyone deserves to feel heard, valued, and supported. Mental health care allows me to walk alongside people during some of their most vulnerable moments, offering compassion, understanding, and evidence-based tools to help them heal and grow. I’m passionate about breaking the stigma surrounding mental health and creating a safe space where individuals can share their stories and work toward their goals. I believe the most effective care happens when it’s built on true partnership. I make sure to take the time to listen to each individual’s goals, concerns, and values, and together we create a plan that feels both effective and meaningful to them. I make sure to explain treatment options clearly so that they can make informed choices with confidence and as treatment progresses, I remember to stay flexible and responsive, adjusting the approach as needed to ensure that it continues to align with each patient’s preferences and values.

When people come to treatment with problems, it is important to remember that they are trying to cope with them in the best way they can. With that in mind, I offer a reflective and engaging partnership with my clients, working toward the goal of helping them to be autonomous, authentic and compassionate in a world that can be extremely stressful. Although my work is solidly grounded in psychodynamic, cognitive/learning, and systems theories, my approach is client-centered, practical and strengths-based. I bring honesty, warmth, and humor to the therapy relationship. I am LGBTQ affirmative and invested in doing cross-cultural therapy which is culturally sensitive. I have a dog, Bracket, who works with me, and I have been doing AAT since 2002. There is a growing body of research which suggests that AAT (Animal-Assisted Therapy) can be helpful with a range of diagnoses, including Depression, PTSD, and Autistic Spectrum. Many therapists know little about online games such as World of Warcraft and Second Life. They may dismiss it as unimportant, or assume it is a problem. I am a gamer-affirmative therapist, meaning I’m more interested in understanding your in-world experience and activity than pathologizing it.

I love supporting college students at every stage — first-year to returning adult learners — who are navigating a season full of change, uncertainty, and big questions. Maybe you're struggling to make friends or be yourself. Maybe friends aren't the issue, but your romantic life feels chaotic and it's something you'd like to develop. Perhaps relationships aren't it at all — school feels overwhelming and stressful, and you're not sure what you want to do. I work with students experiencing anxiety, depression, loneliness, relationship challenges, academic stress, and the emotional overwhelm that often comes with this stage of life. I want to help you understand yourself more clearly and experience yourself with confidence. Sometimes concrete skills can help with that, but mostly, I want to offer a space that feels safe to talk about whatever's showing up in your life right now. Together, we can figure out what you need.

Therapy isn’t easy — but that doesn't mean it has to be joyless. If you’re looking for a therapist who can delve into the dark stuff with both the compassionate support and the sense of humor that it deserves, you’ve come to the right place. I work with women and LGBTQIA+ folks on a range of issues, from managing anxiety and depression, to improving self-esteem, to healing from past trauma or loss. Many of my clients have experienced violence in an intimate relationship, and I have specialized training to support survivors of domestic violence so that they can move forward in their lives and their relationships with others. In addition to my one-on-one work, I love working with couples on improving communication and increasing intimacy, especially when partners come from different cultural backgrounds and hold different values. I'm a warm and practical therapist who will help you build your toolbox together. LGBTQIA+ folks and non-monogamous people of all genders and orientations are welcome and encouraged to reach out! Please contact our office to schedule a free, 20-minute consultation to learn more about my work and get on my calendar.

My work experience has been mainly with adults who have experienced depression, anxiety, trauma, and PTSD. I believe that experiencing hardships can be seen as an invitation to learn more about ourselves and evolve in our life journey to reach our highest potential. My philosophy is one of a holistic approach (mind, body, & spirit). With this approach, I focus with patients to explore, as well as educate, on becoming aware of behavioral patterns, thoughts, and somatic responses. My goal is to help patients increase self-awareness, increase coping skills to manage symptoms such as depression, anxiety, and trauma. Most importantly, I provide a safe and welcoming therapeutic environment in which patients can explore their symptoms, feelings, and life difficulties. By working together through the therapeutic process, I guide patients into a path of self-discovery and empowerment to develop into healthy and whole individuals.

Allowing others to feel heard, understood, and valued is very important to me. I feel everyone deserves to be met with compassion and empathy, especially when seeking support. While it’s not my place to give advice, I will always ensure that the therapy space is safe to explore thoughts, ideas, and feelings in a way that feels supportive and non-judgmental. I will push and challenge when needed, as a way to support growth and positive change. I’ll follow you and want you want to work on. I’ll provide direction as needed, but ultimately you’re the one that decides what therapy is about, given it falls within my scope of practice. My style will fluctuate based on your needs; I’m a bit “loosey-goosey”, but I’ve found that it helps me work with lots of different people and meet a variety of needs!

I was drawn to mental health care because I believe that even in the most difficult moments, you can find hope and move toward a brighter future with the right support. Everyone deserves compassion, understanding, and a safe place to talk about what they’re going through. I’ve seen how powerful it can be when someone no longer feels alone with their struggles. My goal is to serve my community by providing care that combines professional guidance with genuine empathy, so you feel supported as you work through life’s challenges and move toward healing and growth. In our work together, my focus is on creating a space where you feel comfortable sharing openly and where your experiences are respected and understood. I believe mental health is closely connected to your overall well-being, so we may also explore ways to support both your emotional and physical health. I tailor my approach to what works best for you. This might include creative techniques like sand tray, art, or music, CBT-based resources, or holistic practices such as mindfulness and movement. By offering different tools and approaches, we can find what helps you feel supported, empowered, and moving forward. Building trust starts with taking the time to truly understand your experiences and what matters most to you. I’ve worked with people from many different backgrounds who are navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, stress, and chronic pain. My previous career as a U.S. Navy Police officer taught me resilience, discipline, and the importance of serving others—values that guide the way I show up for you in therapy. Along with my work in the California community, these experiences help me create a supportive environment where you feel respected, understood, and encouraged as you work toward the changes you want in your life.
