Therapists for college students near 94110
College can feel overwhelming when stress, anxiety, burnout, relationship issues, or life changes start piling up. You may look like you’re managing on the outside while feeling stuck, exhausted, or alone on the inside. I offer a warm, supportive space to help you better understand what’s going on, build healthy coping skills, and move forward with more clarity and confidence.
Being a student can feel overwhelming at times. Between classes, work, relationships, and figuring out who you’re becoming, it’s easy to feel anxious, burned out, or stuck. I want you to know that you don’t have to handle it alone. I provide a supportive, judgment-free space where you can talk openly and build tools that fit your life. It only takes a few sessions to feel more confident and in control. I specialize in strategies for coping with anxiety, panic and depression, as well as the management of ADHD. CBT strategies can be useful to resolve issues of procrastination or perfectionism. Together, we will decide which counseling approach and modality works best for you. I accept most insurance plans, including Cal-Optima/Medicaid. Depending on your particular insurance, I will guide you to schedule through the Headway or Octave platforms. All telehealth sessions are conducted in a private, HIPAA-compliant space.
Many times people are taught to "suck it up", and often people compare their lives to others and think "it could be worse." However these lessons and these thoughts do not often result in feeling better. Often I work with people who put on a mask that they feel they are not allowed to take down in front of others. We work together to realize that strategies that have taken you this far, tend to stop working at some point. I do not give advice, because at the end of the day, you are in charge of where you want to go and what steps you want to take. But what I can promise, is that I'm willing to walk along side you, you can test the water out and if it does not feel safe you do not have to go in, but if it's something that you want to slowly explore, we can create a space together to do so. Asking for help is a strength, although it is not always told to us. You've made it this far! Feel free to send me an email or give me a call and you can share what has been going on and we can see if you want me to join you on your walk.
Therapy offers a confidential place of refuge where you can be seen and heard. Together we will explore how daily external pressures and feelings of self-blame, self-criticism, fear or sadness, as well as loss and past trauma, may be affecting your ability to move forward or express yourself in an authentic way. By devoting time and attention to understanding your unique story and the ways in which past relationships shape current ones, you can gain greater self-awareness and an understanding of how underlying feelings and thoughts are affecting your mood. In building a strong, supportive relationship I will help you uncover core issues. I primarily use a psychodynamic, creative approach to guide my clients towards greater self-compassion and clarity that will allow you to feel more confident in your ability to change and heal.

Do you find yourself having strong emotional responses to past events? Are you struggling to “Let go” or “Move on” from painful experiences? A typical Enduring Strength Counseling client is someone between the ages of 20-35, possibly a member of the military community, who answered yes to the questions above and is ready to begin their mental health journey but do not want to deal with the constraints and limitations of insurance companies. My clients pay for services directly and feel greater comfort and peace of mind to engage in counseling knowing that their care will not be denied.

Hi, I am Anna McDonald. I am a licensed clinical social worker specializing in assisting individuals and couples to work through life's conflicts. I do so through a multi-faceted approach, focusing first on the unique strengths of my clients and then collaborating with them to be empowered and move through these challenges. Therapy with me is more than just, “How does that make you feel?” and nodding my head. Instead, I am an individual working to empower my clients with research-based knowledge to improve their life conditions.
I work best with college and graduate students who are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally stuck, or disconnected from themselves. Many of the students I support are navigating academic pressure, relationship stress, family dynamics, identity questions, or major life transitions. Some feel like they’re constantly “pushing through,” even when they’re exhausted or unsure of what they want. In therapy, I offer a supportive and non-judgmental space where you can slow down, understand what’s coming up for you, and learn practical ways to cope, set boundaries, and feel more grounded. My approach is collaborative, honest, and focused on helping you feel more confident and emotionally steady in your day-to-day life. If you’re looking for a therapist who is warm, direct, and supportive while also offering real tools you can use outside of sessions, we may be a good fit.

Therapy with me is collaborative, grounded, playful, and sometimes funny (jury's still out on that one...). I was inspired to become a therapist through my own therapeutic journey. Experiencing firsthand how powerful therapy can be in fostering growth and resilience motivated me to create that same space for others. While all our journeys are unique, we can relate to each other through shared emotions. I seek to create a safe space where people feel heard, seen and valued, a supportive and healing space, a space where your journey can be heard not with judgment, but with compassion. Building a strong and trusting relationship is a priority. I do this by actively listening without judgment, validating feelings, and taking the time to understand unique experiences and perspectives. I also encourage open communication, inviting feedback to ensure you feel your voice is valued throughout our work together. My goal is to walk alongside you in your journey, meeting you with empathy, compassion, and respect every step of the way. Working collaboratively to explore your thoughts and challenges creates a trusting and supportive environment where you can feel comfortable being your authentic self. Building trust and a strong therapeutic alliance is a gradual process rooted in open communication and mutual respect. In sessions, I will take the time to get to know you, understanding your goals, values, beliefs, your unique self. We will work together at your pace, adjusting approaches based on what you feel is helpful and supportive. Your communication and feedback will strengthen the collaborative process and empower your role in the therapeutic journey.
